Transpyr C2C MTB rocks!

I completed the C2C MTB this year and it was an absolutely incredible experience! Everything was so well organized, from the registration process to the daily stages. The routes were challenging but breathtaking. I loved the vibe at the finish line every day. I'm already planning to do another Transpyr event next year, maybe the E-Transpyr. I've told all my cycling buddies about it!

Good event, smooth process

Registered for Grand Raid MTB. The website was easy to navigate. Got my confirmation quickly. The event itself ran well. No complaints.

Great value on early bird

I was looking for a new challenge and found Transpyr. The early bird registration for the Backroads event caught my eye. It saved me a good bit compared to the regular price, like 15% off. I also looked at the hotel pack options and felt they were reasonably priced for what was included. It felt like a solid investment for the experience. Glad I booked when I did to get that discount.

Well organized, few hiccups

I participated in the C2C Road event. The online registration was straightforward, and I received all the pre-event information by email well in advance. My official cycling kit arrived about 3 weeks before the start, which gave me time to break it in. Luggage transport worked perfectly every day, my bag was always waiting for me. One minor thing was the GPS rental unit; it took a bit to get used to the interface, but it performed fine on the routes. Mechanical support at the aid stations was great, they helped me with a quick derailleur adjustment one day. Overall, a really professional event.

Looking at the C2C MTB, how does it compare to something like the Cape Epic? Is it as intense?

J June 2 months ago
It's different. Transpyr is a massive undertaking for sure, incredibly scenic and tough, but Cape Epic is a whole other beast of competition and technicality. Both hard, but in different ways.

C2C is super challenging, don't get me wrong. But Cape Epic feels a bit more 'pro' focused, if that makes sense. Transpyr is more about the adventure across the Pyrenees.

Anyone know how the luggage transport works? Do I just drop my bags off each morning and they meet me at the next stop?

T Tara Whitfield 1 month ago
Pretty much! You tag your bag and leave it at a designated spot in the morning, and it's waiting for you at the next overnight location. Super convenient.

Yep, it's pretty seamless. Just don't overpack your main bag, they have weight limits.

Hey, I'm looking at signing up for the Grand Raid MTB next year. Does anyone know if there's usually an early bird discount, and how much it typically saves you?

A Andre A. 2 months ago
Yeah, they almost always have early bird rates. I think it's usually around 10-15% off if you jump on it pretty quick after registration opens.

Can confirm, got about 15% off my C2C entry by signing up months in advance last year. Definitely worth it.

Are there any group discounts if me and a few buddies want to sign up together?

F Faith Beaumont 2 months ago
I think they sometimes have 'pack familiar' or group discounts. Worth checking their registration page when entries open.

Yeah, they usually do! Not a huge amount, but every bit helps when you're getting a few people signed up. Keep an eye out for it.

For those who've done it, is the Transpyr more of a race or a personal challenge ride? I'm not sure if I'm fast enough for a full-on competition.

K Kevin 1 month ago
It's definitely a challenge, but you can approach it however you want. Some people race it hard, others take it at their own pace and enjoy the views.

Mostly a march for me, honestly. The competition is more against yourself and the mountains. You get timed, but it's not like everyone's gunning for a podium spot.
